The starting point

Start with acceptance and a clear scope.

A cancer second opinion is a review by another doctor, not a guarantee of a different diagnosis or treatment. First confirm that the hospital accepts the request and in what format. Agree the records, clinical reviewer, deliverable and fee before transferring sensitive material.

Do not assume all Beijing hospitals offer remote international second opinions. PKUPH’s international patient FAQ currently says international telemedicine is unavailable. A few useful answers

Before you ask.

Clear boundaries make planning easier.

Can I arrange a remote review?

The receiving hospital must confirm the accepted format. Remote international review is not available everywhere.

Which records are needed?

Obtain the hospital’s own list. It may include existing pathology, imaging and treatment summaries.

Should I upload documents with my inquiry?

No. Start with a non-sensitive inquiry, then verify the recipient, consent and secure transfer route.

Will another opinion change my treatment?

A second opinion may confirm or question an existing plan. It does not guarantee treatment access or a different outcome.
